My name is Bobby and I’m a very large person. I’m 6’3″ tall and about 350lbs. (190.5cm and 158kg for those who don’t use Freedom Fractions.) Prior to 2022, traveling was easy: hop in my car, head for a campsite, pitch a tent, and enjoy a regional park or game land for a weekend or so; then come back home. I never had to worry about airplanes, hotels, cruise ship accommodations, or really anything else.
All that changed when I married the love of my life in October of 2022. For our honeymoons (yes, we had two!), we went on a couple of cruises. While both were fantastic, they opened my eyes to some difficulties larger-than-average people have when traveling. For example…
Am I going to fit into that economy seat? Or are my knees going to pushed into the poor young lady in front of me? Is business class worth the extra money, or should I just suck it up for a few hours? Is the hotel bed firm enough to handle my weight while still being fluffy enough for my wife? Can I fit into that taxi?
As I write these questions, they seem a bit ridiculous. I’m sure they seem ridiculous to most people. But as a Big & Tall man, all of these are things to consider when planning.
There are very many travel blogs out there and insights gleaned from these sort of blogs and vlogs have been very valuable to me as I broaden my horizons. However, there isn’t really a current resource out there that answers the questions pertinent to a man of my size.
I aim to be such a resource. And to that end, I’ll be documenting my travels, my planning, the good, the bad, the fantastic, and the ugly. I’ll share the products that I’ve found that have worked for me. I’ll review airlines, hotels, cruises, and locales. You may find an occasional restaurant or bar review too. (There’s a reason I’m Big & Tall; I definitely enjoy food and drink.) And you may all occasionally hear how things are from my wonderful and beautiful wife.
So, welcome to Big & Tall Travel! I look forward to sharing this journey with you all!
